Bloggers UniteHello my dear readers and, of course, guests! Today I would like to touch a very acute problem. It exists everywhere. In any country, in any part of the world. It is named: ANIMAL ABUSE. A lot of people don’t even pay attention to it, those who do pay attention, believe that a single person can do nothing. Both are wrong, because, you can start from yourself and your relatives, friends, they will tell their friends and so on… We don’t have to close our eyes, this problem can be solved, but the process of solution is long, challenging and exhausting. However the result will be amazing: animals will have an opportunity to lead normal life. Do you still remember? They are our smaller brothers and sisters, they need our help!

There are a lot kinds of animal abuses, I’ll try to count the most popular:

  1. Abuse for foodWhen we catch animals, that are supposed to be free and kill them and even eat them. Most of these animals are wild ones and they have their own destination in nature, killing them, we disturb natural balance. Think about it – everything in our nature is interconnected.
  2. Abuse for experimentsYeah, scientists seem to have generous aims, but to test new medicine on monkeys, rats and rabbits… it is so disgusting. I do understand, that this medicine could have helped to millions of people worldwide, but the progress doesn’t stand at one place, so why don’t create a new technique of medicine testing, without killing thousands and millions of innocent animals? I can’t stand the reality, that perfumes I have were tested on a small bird or any other animal. I hate it, may be next time I won’t buy perfumes at all or will buy fragrance that wasn’t tested on animals.

  3. Abuse for pleasureEverybody wants to look wonderful and beautiful, so why do you think it is impossible to look amazing in a cotton, silk, lace blouse instead of a necklet, when it is 10 above zero? I mean, it is no use to kill animals for fur, because of your whim (unfortunately, to some people it is a necessity – they live in very cold natural conditions. Sometimes 40 degrees below zero!)
  4. Unintentional abuseI imply, worsening of natural conditions: deforestation, environmental pollution etc. It leads to animals death, sometimes even extinction.

  5. ABUSE FOR CURIOSITYAs for me it the worthiest and the most stupid type of abuse! To hold animals in capture! Such animals as tarsiers even can commit a suicide! They can’t stand such conditions of living. Mostly, I am talking about zoos. Yeah, I perfectly understand, that it is a rather tricky question, but as for me, the image of those unhappy, dirty and poor animals in cages is unbearable. Keeping them in captivity we make happy only some people, who visit a zoo like an amusement park and don’t even think, how poor animals feel themselves. So, zoos are made for educational and research purposes and also to satisfy public requirements. Zoos are attempt to create natural habitat conditions to animals, thus, making them feel more relaxed, comfortable and happy and to give audience an overview about their living places. Special conditions are created for nocturnal animals.

The picture tends to be completely idealistic! But, I don’t believe it, because animals are kept in captivity (against their own decision) and pay attention, I am not talking about animals that were bred in artificial conditions! They used to live in such a way, they don’t know another life and will for sure die in the wild. I think in zoos, animals show the whole indicators of stress: they are constantly swaying, going from side to side, sometimes don’t want eating. Very often conditions in zoos are awful and the food – inappropriate. I suppose, animals can be kept in captivity, only in cases, when they are endangered or there is no other way to help them survive. But even in such situations they must be kept only in special non-profit zoos (such as: National Parks, wild animal parks, animal theme parks, public aquaria).

Bird abuse - bird in a cage

Moreover, I think people must not only talk about animals and say, that they do feel sorry, because it is really easy to criticize others, we have to do something, for example, not to hurt our own animals, to protect them, to reprimand those, injuring animals and pets and to donate money into special organizations, which can make life of poor animals better. Who knows, may be your example will encourage other people to do the same. Thus, you will for sure help to prevent cruelty against animals. You don’t know what exactly to do? Volunteer organization Pet-Abuse.com made a page called Preventing Animal Abuse, Things that “Regular People Can Do”. Making a donation you can support Pet-Abuse.com.

No doubts, one swallow does not make a summer, but it remind and tells everybody, that it is already time to greet the spring and our World is changing for better…

Coolest colored frogs

Most people DO believe that frogs are bad, they bring a lot of inconveniences and even warts. They live in marches and do nothing but spoiling our lives. But it is a disbelief, sometimes they can please our eyes.

Coolest colored frogs

Here we will talk about tropical frogs, they are colored, bright and draw attention every time you see them. Unfortunately, very often we spoil frogs lives much more often then they do. Some people even chase them. Very often we forget about our ecology, how drastic it is and feel no compassion to these small creatures, who are extremely vulnerable to any event occurring in the nature: climate, environmental conditions, urbanization. Many species became extinct, as they were not able to adopt to new living conditions. A lot of scientists, research establishments try to avoid this process and stop its development.

Coolest colored frogs

As an example, let’s take Dendrobatidae or commonly known as Dart-poison frogs, they live in American tropics and suffer from deforestation. Nowadays, there exist not more than 100 species of them, but these frogs are not capable of living under other natural conditions. One can say, they deserve dying! But it is unfair! These frogs are of great help to medicine. Yeah, no doubts, since the time immemorial, they have been producing a very toxic poison, small portion of this poison (not more than 1 or 2 usual salt grains) is enough to kill a person. Also, this poison was used by Indians to make poisonous arrows and to kill enemies. But, as scientist started studying them, they found out invaluable information about ingredients of their poison and about membrane functioning, because poison of some frogs strikes directly the membrane of a person and provokes apoplexy. Poison of some species can  kill 800 people.

Bodies of these frogs are covered with special liquid poison – it kills small insects and animals. But, 136 micro grams of this poison can kill a person. All poisonous frogs have bright colored appearances! WHY? Because in such a way they warn predators – don’t touch us, it can end awfully. So, it is a kind of protective-warning coloring.

Coolest colored frogs

Interesting fact! These frogs are not poisonous in captivity (zoos, research areas). Scientist can explain it as they don’t eat special insects, which provoke the producing of poison. The most dangerous frog in this family is a Golden Poison Dart Frog.

Yellow-bellied marmot

Have you ever seen a marmot? No? You have missed a lot. Yes! You are lucky, they are so incredible! Marmots are rather large animals, they are Incredible marmotssometimes bigger than housecats, they are attractive rodents. Actually, every marmot is associated with the only one US holiday, named after an animal. Yeah! It is exactly, Groundhog Day. In North America there are a lot of zoos and recreational parks, very their enormous visitors can observe marmots in their natural life-conditions.

Unfortunately, all the marmots love in the northern hemisphere (I mean in natural conditions). Marmots are almost like people, they have different characters, different moods and they are so changeable. Some marmots prefer living together, some are fond of solitary existence.

Sometimes, marmots may look like giant squirrels. Very often they prefer living in mountain regions, for example, Sierra Nevada (USA). They typical place of living is a burrow and also they are hibernating animals. They communicate in a very interesting way, while using whistles. Unfortunately, it is impossible to keep them at home, because they will miss nature and never become a normal pet.

MarmotSo, now it is time to speak about Marmot’s day!

Each year I am looking forward this event, this wonderful holiday – Groundhog Day! A sleepy, cute marmot comes out of his burrow and has to do something with our season, weather and climate as well! I am extremely enthusiastic about it! In such a way we not only programming ourselves and trying to find out more about future weather, but pay attention to those animals (marmots) and, of course, pay tribute to traditions!

Chinchillas History

Funnies bunnies

There are a great number of cute, thrilling animals. I am fond of them. But also, there are some cruel people, who use every possibility to hurt these animals and to leave them without their fur antypical chinchillad, what is even more awful, without their lives!

Have you ever seen a chinchilla? Have you ever seen a coat made from it? Just imagine, a minute ago it was fluffy, small and kind creature and just in a nick of time it turned into a pelt, valuable and warm, but still a pelt! Five minutes ago this chin was breathing, coughing, eating, and playing with its toys and then… I hate it!

So, my main aim here is not only to tell you about chinchillas, but to draw your attention to their lives and dangers around them! Pay attention, they need our help! Actually, their history in America started exactly from poaching, they were chased because of beautiful fur and only after some years they became popular as pets. Uninteresting fact! Approximately 100 chinchillas are needed to make one coat. In the 19th century (China) they became even endangered. Nowadays, chinchilla’ hunting is prohibited by law! But it doesn’t stop some people from killing these animals!

Pair_of_chinchillas Chinchillas are very popular nowadays, they live both in Zoos, stores and even at homes! But there are some strangers, they still don’t know, how do chinchillas look! It is a tricky question, I can give a lot of descriptions, but than you will be puzzled, so, one, but all-absorbing: chinchillas are cute creatures familiar to big squirrels with huge ears (like Cheburashkas).

Chinchilla! This name is of Indian origin and can be interpreted as “little chinta”. These creatures came to us from South America and they are widespread in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. Thanks to Mr. Chapman they appeared in our lives, namely he brought them to our continent. Firstly, they were sold to fur farms and later they became popular pets. They turned to be loving, devoted and kind pets. Chins are very neat and clean pets; they don’t have any specific smell. They can talk, but their sounds are amazing, while eating, sleeping, chewing something. One more interesting fact – chinchillas are night creatures, they spend the whole day at rest (I mean they sleep), but they are awake at night. So, you can visit discos with your favorite pet! He or she will not fall asleep! Also, if you don’t want to have a long-term friend – forget about chinchillas! They live up to 20 years! Chinchillas adore company and they hate loud noises, don’t even dare shouting on them, they will get upset and, as a result, your chinchilla will become quiet and passive. Their popularity rises every day. In our country chinchillas cost more than 400 dollars.

Chinchilla

Of course, there are some people, who do care about them, but those chinchillas, who live in Zoos and other enclosures are completely different form wild chinchillas living in natural conditions. There they prefer caves and rock clefts.

As for me, I have a get and a dog! I adore them! They are so funny! I have never had a rat, a hamster oк a chinchilla, but I was always dream to. May be one day I will get one and now I can only admire with their owners and look at their pictures!
