These species are commonly known because of their red streaks on the sides of their head and amazing yellow stripes on head and legs. The saddest part, a lot of people buy such turtles when they are young and they DO believe that they are going to stay that small till the rest of the life. However, it is not true. These turtles need a lot of care and attention.

The following turtles are amazing, you simply need to understand their nature. They will do good both in a pond or at home. Also, before bringing home such a turtle you should check out a couple of things. If you would like to have such a turtle you can easily adopt one.

Aquariums are nice place of living for young turtles, but when they become bigger it is time for them to change aquarium for something really bigger. These turtles love ponds and it is really amazing if you have an outdoor pond. I am ready to be you perfectly know such a proverb as tastes differ, it can be easily applied to these turtles, since their tastes DO differ when they mature. As a rule, they eat plants, but most turtles need a wide variety of both animal and plant based items.

Also, I highly recommend you to be honest and understand that turtles are not ideal pets for children because they need care and love and attention.

These turtles have rather long lifespan!
