Just look at this! Isn’t it an Alien’s spacecraft? May be not, but it is definitely something extraterrestrial, and that is true because giant jellyfish lives in the dark blue depth. As for me it seems like liquid space… fascinated, magnificent and mysterious.
Ok,here are some science now: Jellyfish inhabit in every major water area and has a different sizes, shapes and colors depending on species.

Instead of brain Jellyfish uses elementary nervous net which could react on light, odor etc. Most of them are transparent or semi-transparent because 95% of their body consist of water.
Most of them are harmless, but some are really dangerous even for human life, although all of them eat only zooplankton or, if occasionally other jelly fishes (but mashroom jellyfish is considered as a delicacy by humans).
So, enjoy other pics and send me your comments or links with nice pics of jellyfishes.

This incredible animal amased me when I was at Indonesia (Bali Island). We were staying there as a tourists. One sunny morning we were invited into so called “Turtle Island” which was totally covered by these turtles and some of them has reached more then 100 years old!

Some of the oceanic giant turtles are described as having enormously long necks, like a sea serpent threaded through a turtle shell. These creatures are often at first mistaken for sea serpents, until witnesses see the attached giant shell.

Turtles have a rigid beak. As you see in this picture turtles use their jaws to cut and chew food. Instead of teeth, the upper and lower jaws of the turtle are covered by horny ridges.
Turtles vary widely in size, although marine turtles tend to be relatively larger animals than their land and freshwater relatives.

The upper shell of the turtle is called the carapace. The lower shell that encases the belly is called the plastron. The carapace and plastron are joined together on the turtle’s sides by bony structures called bridges. The inner layer of a turtle’s shell is made up of about 60 bones that includes portions of the backbone and the ribs, meaning the turtle cannot crawl out of its shell.
Turtles, particularly small terrestrial and freshwater turtles, are quite commonly kept as pets

Today’s subject is quite dangerous and agressive creation bacause morays are capable of inflicting serious wounds to humans. As for me it is very familiar to snake, like ocean cobra, isn’t it? just look!
There are approximately 200 species of Moray eels in the water world.
As predators morays are opportunistic omnivores, trying to eat most any fish and/or invertebrate slow enough to grab. Their great sense of olfaction is coupled with bad vision.

Moray eels have a second set of jaws in their throat called pharyngeal jaws, that also possess teeth. Moray eels are the only known type of animal that uses pharyngeal jaws to actively capture and restrain prey.
Actually, biologists say that morays are not agressive as it known, but shy and secretive, and they only attack humans in self-defense. They also accidentally bite human fingers when being fed, because it cannot see or hear very well, although they have an acute sense of smell!

And one more. If you want to have moray in your home aquarium, just remember, if you have hand been trapped into moray’s mouth – the worst reaction is the most common and dangerous; to jerk your hand back in autonomic reaction, cutting yourself further on the recurved teeth and landscape. So be extremely careful.
Good night to all of you, sleep sweet )

Every year red crabs “go crazy” and began their migration on Christmas Island. This event considered to be one of the amazing event of the year. Very often they cross the roads, crabs are everywhere: on the streets, in the boots and bags, they are climbing the walls and successfully overcome the whole hurdles on their way from forests to water. Annually more than 150 million red crabs migrates in order breed and release eggs into the water. The migration itself lasts up to 20 days. The period of eggs laying and breeding is spent in moist burrows and then, young generation of crabs, called megalopae (they are not more than 5 mm across) began another migration, this time from water to forests. They look like an alive red carpet.

Unfortunately, a lot of crabs die!

Starfish is not actually a fish at all! There are several types of shapes of this nature’s creation: like Sugar starfish, white starfish, Crown of thorns, sunflower star, Bahamian etc. Actually, there are nearly 2000 kinds of sea stars!
We use to think that starfish has its five legs, but some of them have more, which radiate from an indistinct disk, like sunflower fish.
There are about 1,800 known living species of them, and they occur in all of the Earth’s oceans. People often buy starfishes for home aquarium.

(The common starfish is normally 10-30cm )

Starfish can change its color, can do a lot of fun things with ther legs, but! – they don’t have ears and nose…
Most of its life, starfish moves slowly across the ocean floor.
The next shocked fact: If a starfish is cut into pieces, each piece will grow into a whole starfish!

The next amazing fact:
Starfish are almost unique in the fact that, unlike most other animals, they do not have blood but instead use sea water to pump around their bodies!

And what surprised me more then other facts that, because of this ability to digest food outside of its body, the sea star is able to hunt prey that are much larger than its mouth.
Really, curious, bright monster. )

Let me proceed with the water animal’s subject.

There is no doubt from my side that Hippocampus is some sort of beautiful side effect of sea animal’s origin. It seems, that initial scenario of nature didn’t include appearing of this inconceivable combination in living organism. That is why hippocampus for a long time was covered by few myths.

First of them is that one definite individual is faithful to another during all his life. Romantic, isn’t it?
But recently, the group of British ichthyologist revealed that each its male is able to flirt with a 25 females per day!

This is the real life…dear ladies)

The second unexpected fact is (r u ready?) that around 40% of hippocampuses are homosexual!

So, my dear readers I have a question to you – how could it be that consequences of excessive emancipation have penetrated into the blue depth?)))
