Have you ever seen a marmot? No? You have missed a lot. Yes! You are lucky, they are so incredible! Marmots are rather large animals, they are sometimes bigger than housecats, they are attractive rodents. Actually, every marmot is associated with the only one US holiday, named after an animal. Yeah! It is exactly, Groundhog Day. In North America there are a lot of zoos and recreational parks, very their enormous visitors can observe marmots in their natural life-conditions.

Unfortunately, all the marmots love in the northern hemisphere (I mean in natural conditions). Marmots are almost like people, they have different characters, different moods and they are so changeable. Some marmots prefer living together, some are fond of solitary existence.

Sometimes, marmots may look like giant squirrels. Very often they prefer living in mountain regions, for example, Sierra Nevada (USA). They typical place of living is a burrow and also they are hibernating animals. They communicate in a very interesting way, while using whistles. Unfortunately, it is impossible to keep them at home, because they will miss nature and never become a normal pet.

So, now it is time to speak about Marmot’s day!

Each year I am looking forward this event, this wonderful holiday – Groundhog Day! A sleepy, cute marmot comes out of his burrow and has to do something with our season, weather and climate as well! I am extremely enthusiastic about it! In such a way we not only programming ourselves and trying to find out more about future weather, but pay attention to those animals (marmots) and, of course, pay tribute to traditions!
