The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is a special, annual and very popular two-day conformation show that takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York . Many dog owners from all over the world come to show their beloved dogs. This show claims to be one of the most prestigious shows as well.
History of this show started many years ago, in 1876, when most dog owners noticed the success of dog shows in England and Philadelphia, so, they decided to organize one in NYC. Show got its name from the 1st place of this group meeting - the Westminster Hotel.
In years 1877 to 1920, this show was a 4-day one, then it was a 3-day show and now it is again a 2-day “holiday”. Nothing in this world seems to be able to either postpone or cancel this event.
Each dog owner starts planning his dog to participate in this show 2 years prior to it. There are approximately 40 judges, so to win in this show is a hard nut to crack. If the dog happens to reach the top at Westminster, it means it was approved by three different judges - the judge of the breed, the judge of the group, and the Best in Show judge. Nearly 2,500 dogs take part in this show and till the end of the 2nd day, we can enjoy only 7 of them. Strict selection, yeah?
Now, please, enjoy - the 2008 Best In Show was given to “Ch K-Run’s Park Me In First,” a.k.a. “Uno,” a Beagle, 15 Inch.

We watched this show at my house.
