It goes without saying that dog costumes if not a must-have than a very popular thing nowadays. Most owners try their best to choose the right costume for their beloved doggie and sometimes they even DO succeed. However, I would like to name you some pros and cons of such outfits.
Of course pet costumes allow your pets to be everything your want them to be, you can easily make a parrot out of your cat and even vice versa. Pet costumes can be a lot of fun not even for you but for your pet as well. The selection of outfits is really tremendous and impressive, modern shops offer literally everything and on any budget, you simply have to choose. Such costumes come with shirts, capes and halos, and it is possible to use some details even after the celebration.
When it comes to costumes for pets you can be 100 percent sure, the overwhelming majority of them is made for dogs. And not only because they are man’s best friends, but because they love to wear costumes and do it willingly. Cats rarely feel like wearing a costume.
Most owners buy costumes only for Halloween but I don’t understand them, in such a case they make clowns out of pets. I think pets can wear clothes every day, why they can’t look funky?
Keep in mind a couple of tips how and why to wear a costume:
- if your dog doesn’t want to wear a costume, buy it a couple of dog toys, may be it will be a bit happier and would like to wear an outfit;
- don’t even think to put masks on your pet – it can get suffocated;
- make sure that the costume fits and your pet can see, hear and breathe properly;
- try to choose lightweight and natural fabrics;
- avoid using dangling accessories;
- don’t leave your pet alone in a costume.

ReplyI would say that if your pet doesn’t want to wear a costume then don’t put him in one.
Sorry, but I will never understand, why you should “make a parrot out of your cat and even vice versa”. If you want a parrot, then get one and if you want a cat then go to the shelter.
Most of the animals in costumes I’ve seen didn’t seem to feel very comfortable.
A dog has already got it’s ‘clothes’ that nature gave it. Maybe a funky collar or dress up on special occaisions or for a photo… but he’s a dog, not a doll!!
