First of all, nowadays, hamsters are mostly used as pets, although they are rodents, but rather small. Hamsters belong to the rodent family and they are mammals as well. Each hamster has large incisor teeth. There are a lot of kinds of hamsters: Syrian hamsters, Dwarf Campbells Russian Hamsters, Chinese hamsters and so on.

If a hamster is not a pet it lives in semi-deserts, as a rule, in a burrow. This burrow (if to have a closer look) seem more like labyrinth with enormous tunnels, rooms and spaces for food storage. Hamster, which live in natural conditions hate warm and hot time of the day, as a rule, they spend it while sleeping and than awake in evening, when it is not so hot. The eyesight of hamsters is rather poor, but they compensate it with perfect hearing and smell.
The word “hamster” is derived from the German word “hamstern” – that is “hoard”. Peculiar to all hamsters feature is expanded cheek pouches, their hamsters carry food for further usage or simply take it to the burrow and store there.


HAMSTER CARE AND HEALTH. So, you have bought a hamster, but he or she fro sure needs a house. There are a lot of them, but you have to choose the best one for your beloved pet. But even if you have chosen a house, you have to buy additional attachments as well, because they will make life of your hamster more interesting and exciting. There are cages, tube cages, aquariums, they are of different size and at various price from $10 to $1000. If you decided to use an aquarium, be careful in order your hamster not to escape from it. You can eve make a house with your own hands.

Sometimes, Dwarf Hamsters can suffer from the diabetes, if your hamster has a constant thirst and wants drinking all day long, suddenly begin loosing his or her weight, always tired and inactive, irritative and always hungry – go to the veterinarian. The doctor will make a precise diagnosis.
Hamsters are very active, especially young and small hamsters, very often they can fall (for example, at night) and broken a leg – in this case, of course, visit a veterinarian but what is more take away any attachments from his cage and add more calcium in his daily food.

i own 3 hamsters and they are among the cutest creatures alive. They are tame, playful, funny, etc. And compared to large animals they are relatively very clean animals. They eat fruits, vegetables and pellets.
