Winter is the first dolphin capable of swimming with an artificial tail. This cute fish lives at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a special nonprofit animal rescue center.

The First Dolphin with Artificial Tail

Winter is a handicapped fish since its childhood. She was found as a frail, dehydrated 3-month-old fish in December 2005. She was tangled in the buoy line of a crab trap. There was a bad trauma in her tail, the whole team of the center tried their best to save her tail, but they failed.

The First Dolphin with Artificial Tail

It took scientists and doctors more than 4 years to create an artificial tail for the dolphin. But their attempts were successful and right now Winter is learning how to swim with a new tail.
