I am so excited to tell you a couple of words about Google Science Fair, that is the world’s biggest online competition for children ages 13 through 18. During the competition everybody concerned should submit creative and unusual scientific projects about our world, its future and present. The deadline is April 4, 2011. If you are already curious, here are more details about the competition:

In the end of the competition there will be 3 finalist winners, one in each age category 13-14, 15-16, 17-18. Then one of them will be chosen as the Grand Prize winner. There is a great variety of prizes: numerous scholarships, internships, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

It seems to me that as much people as possible should puse this incredible opportunity. The first 60 semi finalist will be chosen already in May, so stay tuned!

Bronx Zoo Escaped Egyptian Cobra is Found

A terrible thing has happened a venomous Egyptian cobra escaped from New York’s Bronx Zoo. The zoo’s reptile house was immediately closed. According to the Zoo officials, the 20-inch-long snake was contained in a nonpublic, isolated area of the building.

Unfortunately, the missing Egyptian cobra has venom that is so deadly that it can kill a full-grown elephant in three hours and the worst part … a person in about 15 minutes. The venom destroys nerve tissue and causes paralysis.

I hope, they will find the snake!

Egypt Shark Attacks: Tourist Killed in Sharm el-Sheik

Once completely safe and one of the most beautiful and budget-friendly resort in the world Sharm el-Sheik turned into a dark and sad place. A shark mauled to death a German woman tourist while she was snorkelling off Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday. Unfortunately, it is the third shark attack in Egypt’s popular Red Sea resort in a week.

Biofuel from Bunnies. Too Terrible to be True

When I read this information for the first time it seemed to me that the world has gone crazy or may be that the author is pulling your legs … but … it seems to me that in the age of discovering alternative sources of energy and taking care of the possible ways of CO2 emissions’ reducing people should feel OK, but they are still looking for something new.

However, the Swedes have created their own way of alternative energy source - biofuel from bunny rabbits. I even can’ find enough heart to tell you about the process of achieving this energy.

Stockholm also needs dead cats, cows, and horses at the Kovex plant for processing. Ouch, I perfectly understand that this way of getting energy allows a lot of people to live in warm apartments, but it still sounds so terrible!

Would You Like Snake Massage?

I am stunned, impressed and shocked and everything at the same time. Also, I can’t believe it. In northern Israel, there exists such a thing as snake spa. Such spas offer a unique massage that, I am ready to bet, wouldn’t suite most of you, because it is both freaky and terrifying.

Everybody concerned and those who adore snakes, are highly welcomed to visit Ada Barak’s spa, where there are six massage therapists are at work – the only one thing – they’re snakes.

this treatment is too doo to be true. There is a great selection of snakes – king snakes, corn snakes, and milk snakes. There are also venomous ones. Brrr. Sounds and looks terrible. I am completely against such spas!

Tadpole Rain in Japan

When I first read the following information I was about to burst into laughter, but as it turned out this information is completely true and a lot of people in Japan were witnesses of real downpour of tadpoles in central Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture.

However, the following case is not the only one, clouds of dead tadpoles have fallen from the sky a couple of times this month. One witness says that he found more than 100 dead tadpoles on the windshields of cars.

Let me tell you that raining down of small creatures such as frogs and fish is a very rare meteorological phenomenon but it still happens from time to time in the world. and Japan is not the only country that suffers from such “news”. Frankly speaking, there is no exact explanation of the following phenomenon.
