Tigers… I’ve always wanted to have one. They seem so cute (especially, when they are young) and inoffensive. But, now (because I am not a child anymore) I perfectly understand, that these beautiful and powerful animals are dangerous, but they still need our help, our protection. Unfortunately, nowadays, tigers are an endangered species. Earlier, there were 8 species of tigers and now 3 of them are extinct and 5 are endangered.
Tigers are predators and the largest feline species in our world. Also, they are the heaviest cats in the wild. In general, tigers’ length is from 2 m to 4 m and their weight – 306 kg. Tigers have bright reddish fur coats and black or brown stripes (as a rule, tigers have approximately 100 stripes). They make tigers so recognizable! It is interesting, but pattern of stripes is unique to each tiger, the same as fingerprints to a person. For most of us the Bengal Tiger, is a typical representative of all tigers and namely its image we imagine while speaking about tigers, ’cause they constitute nearly 80% of the entire tiger population. Tigers live in India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Russia (the Siberian tiger is capable of surviving in extremely cold areas!), Thailand, Indonesian, Laos etc.
The word “tiger” comes from the Greek “tigris” and means an “arrow”, because of their amazing reaction and speed. Present day tigers are strong swimmers, they prefer swimming in ponds, rivers and lakes.
Unfortunately, tigers are haunted for their fur, bones of tigers are used in Chinese traditional medicine, for example in pain killers. But, it was banned. Very often tigers are called men-killers and sometimes, these things really happen. As a rule, only injured or very old tigers attack people. A tiger that killed a person will be killed or poisoned.
By the way, in a poll from Animal Planet, tigers were named World’s Favourite Animal, tigers got 10 904 votes, 17 votes more than dogs. More and more people keep or want to keep tigers as pets. A tiger is a potential danger. Most people don’t understand that keeping a tiger as a pet is almost unrealistic fantasy – give the wolf the best food, but he would hanker for the wood.
There are incredible white tigers, they are just a mutation, but a very beautiful one, yeah?
why should tigers be poisoned or killed when they eat a human? it is natural for a tiger of any type to kill a human if it is disturbed.It broke my heart to read it.
I tend to agree with, but some people (as you see – no). I think predators will always be predators, I mean once dangerous a tiger can’t become not dangerous, these animals possess some basic instincts, so, we can’t kill them because of their usual behavior. But we can avoid irritating them.
Tigers are very beautiful, and whether or not they were raised in captivity, they still have predatory instincts, or the instinct to attack if it feels threatened. There was a local story of a girl who had her senior pictures taken with a full grown tiger, chained and held by a handler. The tiger was friendly enough, and curious as well, and he licked the girls bare foot. She freaked out and kicked her foot at it, and it mauled her to death. Like I said, beautiful, but always dangerous, no matter how tame it seems to be.
the reason why the girl got hurt was because her screams and kicks either spooked the tiger or triggered his prey drive. also, any animal will attack if they sense fear in a person.
that’s why young children should never be near a wild animal, because they don’t know the safety procedures.

tigers ar my favorite animals and im still young so i still belive that i will owne a tiger one day as a pet but 3 tigers are already astint outa 9 thats 3 to many all ready.tigers are the coolest animals and i cant beleave peple are killing them for fur and stuff but when tigers kill humans we have to kill them back. thats wrong and anyone that poaches tigers should go throw the same pain we and the tigers go throw when the poch them
why the hell should u be allowed to kill animals when they where on the earth before us, all they are doin is livin in the way they where made to live!! Why do u think they kill ?? Its because its all they know im sure that they have seen death of 1 of there friends wot do u expect them to do when u are killing off their kind..

so why cant u own a tiger as a pet, dogs have the same potential as tigers. both are vicious and can strike without warning. if u can tame a dog why cant u tame a tiger?

why should we kill tigers………..
i think those who do it are heartless and pityless. i just love tigers and those who kill them should be killed as well.. they are the most wonderfull creature i know, maybe better than human and a lot better than those kill tigers.
they r amazin and must be saved saved and saved…ppl killin them must be immediately hanged to death…officials supporting this must also be subjected to same punishment…
