Today’s subject is quite dangerous and agressive creation bacause morays are capable of inflicting serious wounds to humans. As for me it is very familiar to snake, like ocean cobra, isn’t it? just look!
There are approximately 200 species of Moray eels in the water world.
As predators morays are opportunistic omnivores, trying to eat most any fish and/or invertebrate slow enough to grab. Their great sense of olfaction is coupled with bad vision.

Moray eels have a second set of jaws in their throat called pharyngeal jaws, that also possess teeth. Moray eels are the only known type of animal that uses pharyngeal jaws to actively capture and restrain prey.
Actually, biologists say that morays are not agressive as it known, but shy and secretive, and they only attack humans in self-defense. They also accidentally bite human fingers when being fed, because it cannot see or hear very well, although they have an acute sense of smell!

And one more. If you want to have moray in your home aquarium, just remember, if you have hand been trapped into moray’s mouth – the worst reaction is the most common and dangerous; to jerk your hand back in autonomic reaction, cutting yourself further on the recurved teeth and landscape. So be extremely careful.
Good night to all of you, sleep sweet )
