Husky are nice, big dogs with striking blue or brown eyes. Siberian husky dogs are very energetic and active as they were bred to work and born to run. If a husky is independent, it loves people.
Appearance
Husky dogs are of a medium size (from 20 to 24 inches tall), their weight ranges from 35 to 65 pounds. Siberian huskies look like real wolves but with stunning, bright blue or brown eyes. Ears are prick. Bodies of huskies are massive and athletic with a thick coat (it consists of 2 layers: in spring they lose most of the undercoat). Colours of coat is mostly black and white, or silver and white.
Temperament
As a rule, huskies are: independent, clever, vocal, stubborn, friendly to most people, impulsive, loving, neat.
Grooming
Any husky dog must be groomed once a week, thus, you’ll remove all dirt and other unnecessary things. When huskies are shedding it’s better to brush them more often.
You can’t own husky IF:
- you have small children, cats or dogs - huskies can be aggressive to them;
- you live in an apartment or a small house without a yard - huskies adore running, playing, roaming, otherwise, they can run away or express their energy in a very bad way;
- you are looking for a watchdog - huskies are big, but not reliable in these cases of emergency;
- you are dreaming about a quiet dog - Siberian huskies don’t bark a lot, but they adore yelping and howling, like most wolves.
There are numerous movies about these unusual dogs: Snowdogs, Kevin of the North, Balto, White Fang, The Call of the Wild, Eight Below, Born to Run: The Iditarod Sled Dog Race. Huskies are real movie-stars. And there is a great variety of books as well: Husky in a hut, Siberian Huskies 2008 Calendar, Siberian Huskies for Dummies and other.

Husky Dogs - Appearance, Behavior, Habits

What if you raised a Husky with another breed of dog like a Greenland Dog or a Finnish Lapphund or others from puppyhood? Wouldn’t the Huskey then be friendly to dogs? Because how else can they pull sleds if they’re not fond of other dogs? And I (personnally) have been dog-sledding when I was roughly 14 I’m thinking. And pretty much still a child. =) I was able to walk up to these very friendly dogs and pet them even hug them…. So I’d think if you socialize them with both other dogs and children when puppies and when they’re in their early adolecent ages they’d be very good dogs to have in a family or a pack of dogs. But that’s my personnal opinion
No offence meant in any way here I hope =)
Sincerely,
Andrea Fornetti =)
